Pattani province is situated in the south of Thailand, about 1,055 kilometers from
Bangkok and occupies an area of approximately 1,940.35 square kilometers or 1,212723 Rais.

Geography and Climate
Geography
The geographic area of Pattani is divided into three types. It consists of coastal plain area which covers one third of the whole area. This includes the north and the east of the province with long beaches. Also, the coastal plain stretches about 10 - 30 kilometers wide. The alluvial plain area is in the central and southern part of the province. Having the Pattani river flowing through makes the area suitable for agriculture and is good for the mountainous area.
Climate
General Climate
There are two seasons in Pattani. The first one is the northeast monsoon season or the cold season which is influenced by the cold and dry northeast monsoon. The monsoon also causes the cold weather in central and north of Thailand and the showery weather in the south. Consequently, Pattani has average rainfall and the cold period from time to time. However, having Tanaosri Mountain situated on the west side, there is less rainfall along the eastern coast of the southern part of the country and Pattani wich is the windward side.
